I generally produce work in series. The impetus behind a series can come from many places. It can begin with an image or description from a book I have been reading. It can begin with a dream, a memory or an emotion. It can be a visual stimulation, something I have seen everyday or glimpsed suddenly.
In this series it was the impact of bright sunlight moving across a shower curtain, creating compelling patterns of light and dark.
I juxtaposed these patterns with the designs on the shower curtain and the figure behind it to create a multi-layered effect.
I add emphasis to this imagery by often working close to life size.
