Rosemary Warner is a Chicago based photographic artist whose work stretches the traditional categories of the medium.

Rosemary Warner is a Chicago based photographic artist whose work stretches the traditional categories of the medium.  Having spent decades as a painter, she blends her techniques, often altering her photographs using bleach and toners after they have been carefully montaged together from several negatives. Her work revolves around portraits and figures and is often printed life-size.  Every large scale finished work (all are silver prints) is unique; her smaller scale pieces are printed in very limited editions providing for hand manipulation of the prints.

Warner is largely self taught as a photographer, first entering a darkroom in 1986.  She studied fine art at Indiana University in Bloomington (1968 -72) and later studied painting at the New York Studio School (1974 - 76) and at SUNY in NYC (1988-90).

Warner has shown her work in numerous group and solo exhibitions in New York, and more recently in Chicago.  In the last three years she has had solo exhibitions at Chicago's University Club and at Berlanga Fine Art, and has also exhibited in group shows at Zolla/Lieberman Gallery and the Schneider Gallery.

Rosemary Warner lives and works in the near Northwest side of Chicago.
